We’re Hiring!

Communications Contractor

Are you a communications strategist who can build systems from scratch AND execute them beautifully? Do you geek out over email segmentation, Canva templates, and conversion rates? Can you write a strategy doc one day and design Instagram stories the next? Are you the kind of person who actually enjoys proofreading? We're looking for a communications contractor to spend 6 months (February-July 2026) transforming how Center DC tells our story. This isn't your typical "post on social media" gig—you'll assess our entire communications approach, build a comprehensive strategy, create systems that scale, and manage our ongoing marketing through the spring. You'll need expert-level skills in Mailchimp, Canva, Squarespace, and social media, plus the strategic chops to translate our mission into campaigns that actually convert. Bonus points if you're already part of the Center DC community (you'll hit the ground running if you know our vibe). This is a $14,000 contract with potential to transition into a part-time employee role if it's a great fit. Download the full description HERE.

Ready to help us grow? Let's talk. Interested candidates should submit a resume, statement of interest and portfolio to ryan@centerdc.org.

Board Member

Center DC is at a pivotal moment. In January 2026, we're expanding our physical space by 400% and growing our team to match our community's needs. We're looking for passionate individuals to join our Board and help steward this next chapter of growth. Since 2015, we've built a faith-based community where people practicing and exploring Islam can grow authentic relationships with God and each other. Today, we serve 6,000 people through 600+ annual gatherings with a $500k budget that's 90% donor-funded.

We're seeking board members who bring diverse skills and experiences—from HR and finance to communications, fundraising, and organizational development. Board service requires 5-8 hours monthly, including bi-monthly meetings, an annual retreat, and a $3,000 give-or-get commitment that can be met through personal contribution, targeted fundraising, or in-kind services.

This is a one year commitment, with the option to renew. Download the full description HERE. Interested candidates should submit a resume and statement of interest - specifying why you are interested in becoming a steward of this organization and what specific skills/experience/role you are eager to fulfill - to ryan@centerdc.org.

Committee Member

Got some dope skills and wonder how you can start giving back to Center DC? Not sure about taking on a board role, but ready to contribute in a targeted skill-specific way? Then joining a committee might be the perfect leadership role for you. Committees work specifically on a variety of different projects, with time-bound - sometimes seasonal - ways to help us level up.

  • Human Relations Committee - to help us support our growing staff

  • Data/Survey Committee - to gather and analyze feedback to guide our iterative/responsive programing

  • Mutual Aid Committee - to review incoming requests for financial aid from community members

  • Ramadān Committee - to support our seasonal fundraising efforts

  • Gala Committee - to plan our annual fundraising party, scheduled for September 12, 2026

Interested? Email lauren@centerdc.org with your resume and statement of interest!

Center DC has a dedicated group of specialized volunteers who serve on our accountability team. When an issue arrises between community members, these professionals support our safe(r) space process, with the goal of addressing harm and conflict, holding people accountable to one another, and keeping folks in community when at all possible. This team also plans proactive circles and gatherings to build community and address larger issues that emerge and impact our ability to be in ‘right relationship’ with one another.

We are currently looking to onboard 3-4 new members who have experience in:

  • mental health

  • victims advocacy

  • mediation + conflict resolution

  • restorative justice facilitation

Folks who are the best fit for this role are community-adjacent (i.e. not deeply involved and super socially connected within the Center DC ecosystem). Not knowing everyone in community is a benefit here! If you attend multiple events each week, you’re likely too close to the community to serve in this way!

You can view the full job description HERE. This is a one year commitment, with the option to renew. Interested candidates should submit a resume and statement of interest to saferspace@centerdc.org with “Joining the Safe(r)Space Team” as the subject line. Applications will be reviewed and an interview will be scheduled for those advancing forward, where we’ll review our process and answer questions. We hope to onboard 3-4 new members this year, inshaAllah!
