What we Do

Relationships are at the center of what we’re about as a community. Read on below to see more about the types of gatherings and programing we offer as a means to deepen your relationship with God, with yourself, and with your peers!

Meaningful Connections

This is achieved not only through the way unique each gathering is facilitated + how our space is set up, but through the programing we provide that bring people together. We’ve got a whole department devoted to programs for people to meet one another: The Fellowship Department!

  • Two times a year, we run a peer-led curriculum for small groups of 8-12 folks over 10-12 weeks to facilitate micro-community. Find out more at www.centerdc.org/smallgroups

  • Once a year, we also run a round of peer-to-peer matching where two folks are paired and schedule to meet with one another to work on their goals for 8-12 weeks. Find out more at www.centerdc.org/ansarproject

  • We have a TON of peer-led groups that meet throughout the month on their own schedule. Groups include

    • Outdoors Club

    • Dinner Club

    • Film Club

    • Sports Club

    • Book Club

    • Parents Group

    • Couple's Date Night

    • "Meet the Masjid"

    • ...And others!

These groups can be accessed via our WhatsApp community, which you can sign up for at www.centerdc.org/join .

  • We have a team of individuals who organize social gatherings AT Center DC at least once a month simply for the sake of having a good time with one another! Check out our calendar of events for our next event!

  • We're proud to offer Friday prayer service every week at 1:00-1:30pm in our space. No registration is required.

We also offer a smaller Eid prayer each holiday season, as well as other religious-related gatherings during significant times throughout the year. Check our upcoming event calendar for more info!

  • Every month, Center DC invites a guest scholar to lecture on a topic specifically relevant to what it means to live life and practice as a Muslim. Check out our calendar for the next one!

  • Each quarter, we offer a 10-week class teaching the basics of prayer and purification according to the 4 schools of thought in Sunni Islam (rotating). Giving Back

Putting your faith in action is a part of how we live our Islam in real time. Our Service Department helps create opportunities for you to serve your fellow Muslims and engage with the broader D.C. community as a spiritual practice.

  • Every Friday, we bring a group of community members to visit some of our 400+ brothers and sisters on the inside at the Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF) in the DC Department of Corrections. Interested in getting involved? Email info@centerdc.org for more information.

  • In partnership with our friends at Chocolate City DMV, once a month, we give out 100 warm meals to our neighbors in need. Want to help with distribution? Email muhammad@centerdc.org to get involved.

  • Our community is building a network of peers to support one another when we need it the most. Whether you need help moving, a mealtrain or funds in an emergency, we've got you covered inshaAllah!
